Our energetic and creative residential garden maintenance company is looking for upbeat teams for our busy season. 

At Gardens of Joy, we specialize in residential gardening services, including: Spring Clean-Up; Planning, Reviving & Refreshing Garden Plantings; Garden Maintenance; Garden Staging; and Fall Clean-Up.  Our clients are generally in Aurora, Newmarket and surrounding areas.

Gardening team Lead

Do you love digging in the garden? Leading a team?  We’re looking for Gardening Team Leads!

Your Role: You will work with one or more of our head gardeners to start and potentially move into a supervisory role where you may lead a small team of gardeners. Your role may include ensuring staff know what is expected at each job site, as well as all aspects of garden & small shrub maintenance & care, such as weeding, pruning, soil prep and planting and post-job clean-up.  This role may also include meeting with clients to determine maintenance goals as well as input to the plan of garden re-design and plantings.

Working Conditions: 

  • Part-time, flexible Monday to Friday, 8 am to 3pm, with possibility of optional additional hours in peak weeks

  • Ability to lift 30-40 lbs, bend and/or kneel for periods of time.

  • Our season begins in May and goes into October. 

  • Hourly pay starts at $18/hour, commensurate with experience.

All gardening tools and uniform performance shirt will be provided.  WSIB Covered.  

Skills and Qualities:

  • Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to take direction and lead a small team

  • Focus on quality and attention to detail

  • Good communication skills

  • Stamina and positive, upbeat outlook in all outdoor summer weather conditions 

  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools and small power gardening tools

  • G2 or G driver’s licence, First Aid/CPR training an asset

Preference will be given to candidates with a positive outlook, horticultural knowledge and some professional gardening experience. Access to a vehicle also preferred.

We’re looking for Summer Team Members who don’t mind getting dirty!

Your Role: You will be partnered with one or more of our head gardeners.  Your role may include; weeding, clearing out overgrowth; pruning; soil preparation; planting; and post-job clean-up.  This role may also include input to the plan of garden re-design, plantings & maintenance goals.

Working Conditions: 

  • Part-time, flexible Monday to Friday, 8am - 3pm, with possibility of optional additional hours in peak weeks

  • Ability to lift 30-40 lbs, bend and/or kneel for periods of time.
