At Gardens of Joy, we specialize in residential gardening services, including: spring clean-up & planting, redesigning existing plantings, ongoing seasonal garden maintenance, and fall clean-up. Our clients are generally in Aurora, Newmarket and surrounding areas. Benefits include flexible hours and regular company events!

Gardening team Lead
If you love the outdoors, have lots of energy and want to lead a team, we
would love to hear from you!
Your Role: You will work with one or more of our head gardeners to start and move into a supervisory role where you will lead a small team of gardeners. Your role may include ensuring staff know what is expected at each job site, as well as all aspects of garden & small shrub maintenance & care, such as weeding, pruning, soil prep and planting, and post-job clean-up. This role may also include liaising between clients and owners to help determine maintenance goals. Initial, and ongoing, training will be provided to the right candidates.
We Offer:
Part-time Monday to Friday, Between 8 am - 2 pm, with the possibility of optional additional hours in peak weeks
Ability to lift 30-40 lbs, bend and/or kneel for periods of time
Our season begins in April and goes into November
The hourly pay starts at $19/hour, commensurate with experience
All gardening tools and a uniform performance shirt will be provided. WSIB Covered.
Skills and Qualities:
Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
Ability to take direction and lead a small team
Focus on quality and attention to detail
Good communication skills
Ability to lift 30-40 lbs, bend and/or kneel for periods of time
Stamina and positive, upbeat outlook in all outdoor weather conditions
Ability to use a variety of hand tools and small power gardening tools
Access to a reliable vehicle
First Aid/CPR training an asset
Cell phone with data required
Preference will be given to candidates with a positive outlook, horticultural knowledge and gardening experience.
